
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)
Life brings with it a multitude of uncertainty. Whenever things are in flux, change is present, or even when illness rears its ugly head, we tend first to despair, then we seek help. It’s really all in the way we look at things. You see, it’s our thoughts that can dig us into a deep pit and keep us there perpetually if we dwell on the negative. Although the pit of despair can be deep, Corrie Ten Boom once said, “No pit is so deep that God is not deeper still.” How right she was….
Paul the Apostle penned the passage to the Philippians having been in prison, beaten, shipwrecked and almost dying on numerous occasions. One thing he learned — and something each of us can learn — is that ruminating on the negative will only tie us fast in the pit. But, if we begin to reformat our thoughts, renew our minds and keep them steadfast on that which is right, noble, pure, lovely…we will be able to walk and not grow weary, run and not fall down. When we begin to “reformat” our thoughts, we actually renew our minds and the shadowy circumstances of our lives dissipate in the light of His countenance and Grace. Beloved, I don’t know what you are going through today, but I do know the One who can lift you out of the miry clay and set your feet upon the rock….JESUS CHRIST!
Won’t you join me this month as we “reformat” our thoughts and begin to see each other and ourselves as God does…created in the Image of God and loved!
